After revealing her pregnancy following years of infertility, Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley’s wife Cassie McConnell Kelley has announced the two are expecting a baby boy!
Cassie had said on her Womanista blog earlier this month that she and the 33-year-old musician were expecting their first child together after trying to conceive for years since they married in July 2009.
“We’re almost four months and I’m due in February and we just found out that we’re having a boy, which, gosh, I just get choked up thinking about,” she said onGood Morning America on Friday. “We’re thankful, we’re so…’blessed’ isn’t a strong enough word. We were up against some incredible odds and it still happened.”
Cassie, who is 32, according to GMA, had detailed her fertility struggles on her blog, saying that in November, after years of trying to have a baby, they saw a fertility doctor who told them they had a 1 percent chance of conceiving naturally. They then decided to “hang out this summer, relax, enjoy and live our lives fully and happily,” she said.
“We made a plan to regroup this fall and explore other options to expand our family. Then it happened. I woke up one morning in June and there it was, a positive pregnancy test,” Cassie wrote. “I was in shock. Happy shock, but shock. Our baby decided to join our family in God’s time, which is always right.”
In an appearance on GMA, Cassie said their doctor told her that she doesn’t ovulate every month and that she also had a blockage in her left Fallopian tube, which was connected to her dominant ovary. She did not specify whether or not she was prescribed fertility drugs.
“The plan was to start IVF,” Cassie said. “To our surprise and incredible excitement, I got pregnant in May and then found out we were expecting in June.”
